➤ Trigger warning: This installation contains low-frequency sound, which can be an intense experience to some. The sound does not harm your hearing, but it may have a strong physical or emotional impact. Listen to your body – if you start to feel uncomfortable or stressed, you are welcome to leave the space at any time.
Brazilian-born, Berlin-based sound artist Stefanie Egedy focuses on low-frequency sound and subwoofers. She is fascinated by the physical and emotional impact of bass sound on human perception. BODIES AND SUBWOOFERS (B.A.S.) is a series of site-specific installations in which she explores this principle in relation to the human body and architecture. Through bespoke subwoofer compositions, each installation creates a tactile sonic environment that engages the body as both a sensory receptor and a co-creator of the experience. For Artefact, Egedy presents a new version of B.A.S., adapted to the STEK Club space. Approach the subwoofers in your own way - it’s perfectly fine to sit or lie down on them - and try to sense what the bass tones are doing to your body and to the space around you.
