Ecstasy, gabber & beyond: inspired by the Artefact theme ‘Alone Together’, Artefact Night celebrates the connecting force of gabber and trance. Not your everyday ‘back to the nineties’, but a line-up packed with hybrid electronica artists inspired by ecstatic dancefloor euphoria. Expect an evening packed with high energy & high tempo.

We start the night in STUK Labozaal with two Belgian artists: the partly Leuven-based emo rave quartet Rumours present their new EP How Many Roses, a dark collection of shamanistic ruffles and sentimental vocals. Hantrax, the prince of the Antwerp underground, turns Labozaal into a futuristic concert installation with mirrors, laser gloves and guest musicians. His new album Paroxysm is a fictional soundtrack for a nightly cab ride, filled with new wave, experimental rave and electronic metal. Headliner is the French collective Casual Gabberz, one of the most popular pioneers of the neo-gabber movement. Their explosive dj sets are the perfect, powerful antidote to narrow-mindedness. In December, they release their new album Until We Come.

The rave goes on with a wild clubSTUK in STUKcafé, opened by Brussels collective and label Slagwerk: bold crossovers between deconstructed club music, spiritual ambient and glossy post-internet culture. Next up is Salon des Amateurs and NTS Radio resident Phillip Jondo, one of Germany’s most talented djs. His sets go from slow hypnotising percussion to 140 BPM booty bass - both unconventional and highly danceable. Closing the night: versatile Brussels dj, producer and media artist Mika Oki, whose sets show lots of love for UK genres like drum ‘n’ bass, garage and grime.
